Peter Wiedemann triumphed Hugh Taylor as President of the ICO. The transition of power happened at the conclusion of the World Ophthalmology Congress at Barcelona, on 19 June 2018.
Professor Wiedemann is dedicated to directing the ICO to an exciting future using ICO Member societies to decrease the burden of eye disease globally. He’s globally known for his work at macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy, and it has held numerous leadership positions such as past President of the German Society of Ophthalmology, and Secretary General of the Academia Ophthalmological Internationalis. He’s Manager of the Leipzig University Eye Hospital in Germany. His well-respected breadth of work comprises over 500 peer-reviewed newspapers and eight books, such as Ryan’s Retina.
Since ICO President, Prof. Wiedemann has recognized alliance and instruction as key priority areas. “It’s very important to the ICO to collaborate with all our manhood ophthalmologic leaders and societies to encourage ophthalmologists and to urge access to high-quality care,” explained Prof. Wiedemann. “I’m proud to have the chance to serve together with the ICO as we work toward our vision of a universe where nobody has avoidable vision loss”
Prof. Wiedemann has served the ICO in a Lot of roles such as Treasurer from 2014–2018 and Program Chair for the World Ophthalmology Congresses WOC2012 at Abu Dhabi and WOC2014 at Tokyo.
